What to expect for Christmas at Disneyland Paris 2026
Christmas is the most magical time to visit the most beautiful Disney park in the world. There’s a 24-metre Christmas tree, snow falling down Main Street, and a Christmas parade that will bring a tear to your eye and leave you singing "Shine a light, shine a light”
If you're new here, we’re Magical Brits, and today we're getting into Disneyland Paris' biggest seasonal event of the year. Christmas at Disneyland Paris spans Disneyland Park, as well as World of Frozen at Disney Adventure World for the first time this year.
When is christmas at Disneyland paris?
If you're thinking about visiting, the dates to know are 7 November 2026 to 6 January 2027. Here’s a full breakdown of what to expect for 2026 Christmas at Disneyland Paris.
The Christmas Atmosphere
The Town Square and Main Street USA get the full Christmas treatment, with a huge 24-metre tree taking centre stage surrounded by Christmas statues of iconic Disney characters with gifts. A little further on, Main Street USA is decorated with Christmas garlands and lights.
There are numerous events taking place down Main Street throughout the day. At random intervals throughout the day, it will snow. And at certain times in the day, there will be a tree lighting show, with the lights flashing in sync to the music, and lastly, there’s the Mickey Enchanted Parade.
Across the park, you'll find more than 15,000 Christmas ornaments across the park, beautifully decorated shop windows and, once darkness falls, projections lighting up the façades.
Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place nightly at dusk, often around 7.30ish, bringing together a live choir, Mickey and friends and, of course, that enormous tree.
Mickey's Dazzling Christmas Parade
Mickey's Dazzling Christmas Parade is the highlight of the Christmas season. It features light-up floats, a huge variety of Disney characters in their Christmas best and the ‘Shine a Light’ parade song.
All of this is included with the regular park ticket, unlike Disney World Magic Kingdom and their Christmas party event.
It is worth to note it gets exceptionally busy when a parade is due. If you want a decent viewing spot, don't stroll up five minutes before showtime and expect to see everything. You'll want to think ahead about where you want to watch from and get there early enough to claim your space.
And honestly, if the parade is high on your priority list, we’d make it one of the things you plan your day around.
Castle Entertainment
There's also a Princess Waltz show at the castle daily, adding another bit of festive entertainment to the programme.
And then you've got the character opportunities.
Depending on the day's schedule, you could meet:
Princess Aurora and Prince Philip (Lead the waltz)
Belle
Cinderella
Ariel
Snow White
Princess Tiana
Princess Jasmine
Rapunzel
As well as these, some of the princes, such as Flint Ryder, often join at the end of the show. Schedules and appearances can change, so check the Disneyland Paris app on the day rather than planning your entire trip around one particular character.
Let’s Sing Christmas Musical Show
We accidentally skipped this on our first visit to Disneyland Paris Christmas; however, on our second visit last year we finally saw it. And we’d say this is a must-do. This show is like a panto, musical, and Disney show rolled into one, and it will have you singing along in the Christmas spirit, with Goofy leading the show.
Disney themselves summarise this one as a sing-along with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Clarabelle... That will get your loved ones into the Christmas spirit!
What's Actually Worth Paying Extra For?
This is where I'm going to be a little more honest, because Christmas at Disney can get expensive very quickly.
You can pay extra for a reserved viewing area for the parade. Is it worth it? If you're visiting during one of the busiest Christmas dates and the parade is a must-see for you, then it may be worth it. But if you’re budget conscious at all, we’d recommend skipping this upgrade, as the parade usually runs twice.
But if you're happy to arrive early and stake out a good viewing spot yourself, then we’d definitely not recommend this.
Hotel Gift Box
If you’re staying at a Disney Hotel, Disneyland Paris is offering an add-on for your stay. You can pay for an exclusive Christmas Gift Box to be in your room upon arrival. The gift box is delivered to your hotel room filled with festive Christmas souvenirs and exclusive surprises in the theme of your Disney Hotel.
Some hotel stays during specific dates can come with a festive gift box. It's a lovely little extra, but we wouldn't choose a hotel purely because of it.
Christmas Chalet Food & Drink
Then there's the food. Expect things like hot chocolate, mulled wine, waffles, cheese fondue and other festive treats. Both Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World have exclusive Christmas food chalets.
In Disneyland, you’ll find them in Fantasyland just behind the castle. In Disney Adventure World, they’re located in 2 locations; first is in the Ratatouille area in Worlds of Pixar and the second is around Adventure Lake, a new addition this year with several food stalls similar to EPCOT.
If you're the sort of person who loves Christmas markets and wants to try different festive foods, absolutely check out these chalets. They’re the perfect place to tuck into gingerbread, crepes, hot chocolate, and other delicious treats. Restaurants throughout both parks will also offer comforting, gourmet creations with festive touches.
Christmas Magic at the Hotels
And don't forget that the Christmas experience doesn't necessarily end when you leave the parks.
If you're staying at one of the Disneyland Paris hotels, you'll find festive decorations, seasonal activities and character meets. This can actually be a really nice part of the trip because it gives you somewhere quieter to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere away from the crowds.
So if you're doing a longer Disneyland Paris stay, don't overlook the hotels when planning your festive experience.
New Year's Eve at Disneyland Paris
Whilst not relevant to everyone, there's New Year's Eve.
On 31 December, the park can stay open until 1 am, with castle fireworks helping bring in the New Year. It sounds incredible, and it absolutely could be a bucket-list Disney experience.
New Year's Eve is likely to be one of the busiest and most intense times of the entire Christmas period. So if you're considering timing your trip around it, ask yourself what you actually want.
If you want the huge atmosphere, fireworks and the experience of seeing in the New Year at Disney, go for it. If you'd rather have a relaxed Christmas trip with shorter queues and fewer crowds, we’d personally choose another date in November or early December.
How to Save Money at Disneyland Paris at Christmas
Christmas is not the time to wing it, we recommend booking early.
Don't assume you'll get a great last-minute deal over the Christmas and New Year period. Firstly, we’d recommend comparing the Disney Hotels for various dates from 7 November to 5 January. You can compare dates easily enough, and all the hotel packages include the cost of tickets, making them potentially excellent value.
An alternative option is to stay off-site. We did this last year and booked a cheap studio apartment in Val D’ Europe through Expedia. You can use our link if you’d like to take a look:
If staying offsite, you’ll then need to either buy tickets separately, can buy direct with Disney or shop around online. Alternatively, their Bronze Annual Pass options can offer excellent value and give you a cheaper trip if you return within a year. We did this last year and have helped cover the cost of tickets for 3 Disney trips now.
Think about your dates
If you have flexibility, look closely at weekdays versus weekends and avoid the biggest school-holiday peaks where possible.
A few days of flexibility can make a surprisingly big difference to how busy the parks feel.
Dress for the weather
It might look magical, but remember: this is France in winter.
Bring:
Comfortable shoes
Warm layers
Thermals
A proper coat
Rain gear
Gloves and scarf
Something you can comfortably wear outside for extended periods
Because standing around waiting for a parade is a lot less magical when you're cold and soaked. Or you’ll be spending a lot of money on hats and scarfs from a Disney store.
So, Is Disneyland Paris at Christmas Worth It?
Here's our verdict. YES, 100% yes. Especially if you love Christmas. Disney is already magical; however, this takes it to another level.
The combination of the enormous tree, snow on Main Street, decorations, entertainment and the Christmas parade creates an atmosphere that's difficult to replicate at another time of year.
To round it off, we’d say our top three must-dos are:
Mickey's Dazzling Christmas Parade - Plan ahead, get a good spot and actually enjoy it.
The Christmas tree and snow on Main Street - Especially after dark. This is peak Disneyland Paris Christmas.
"Let's Sing Christmas!" musical show - It's festive, entertaining, atmospheric and included in your park ticket.
And if you're staying into New Year's Eve, we’d put the fireworks firmly on the list — provided you're prepared for the crowds.
